Etag Fixings were part of the upcoming RTE series DIY SOS: The Big Build’ during September. Originally a BBC format running for almost 20 years in the UK, this is the first time the show has come to Ireland. The first show travelled to Dundrum, Tipperary to help the Barry family get into their dream home.
Sinead and her husband Michael Barry had been building their house for the last 5 years when Michael fell ill this year. Michael tragically passed away in March after a very short battle, leaving the home unfinished and Sinead a single mother to three young children.
DIY SOS sent out a local and national call to the construction industry to support the project. Everything involved in the show is donated and voluntary. With the help of local and national businesses, the Barry family were able to get the house that Michael and Sinead always dreamed of.
Etag Fixings were delighted to help and donated fixings, signage, catering supplies and more to the project. With the help of MDS Transport, Etag were able to deliver supplies from their warehouse in Clonee, Dublin to Tipperary efficiently. “To be able to help a family build their dream home and create some stability in a tragic time has been an amazing experience for us at Etag,” Damien Lynch, Managing Director said. “Sinead and her children have their dream home and we would encourage other businesses in the construction industry to get involved in any way they can, when DIY SOS continues in the New Year.”
